Request for Information
During the course of remediation of hazardous or contaminated waste sites on the Hanford Reservation, large areas of land are stripped of their native vegetation, dug out to remove all contaminants then backfilled. Washington Closure Hanford (WCH) is seeking Subcontractors to re-vegetate these areas to native vegetative communities.
For security reasons, no fertilizer material may be stored overnight on the Hanford site.
Work initiation is required to start no later than December 1, 2008 and be completed by December 18, 2008. Approximately 40 acres across the Hanford Site are involved.
The SUBCONTRACTOR shall provide the equipment, fuel, labor and materials (as specified) necessary to mix, broadcast, fertilize, lay down straw mulch, crimp, irrigate, and plant sagebrush seedlings in areas around the Hanford site WCH will provide the grass seeds and 4 cubic inch sagebrush plugs.

WCH is planning to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for engineering services for planning, implementing and managing an environmental sampling program for the Columbia River to support a baseline risk assessment for portions of the Columbia River (the risk assessment is not part of the planned subcontract). Resulting environmental data will be used by WCH to evaluate the nature and extent of past releases of Hanford Site contaminants to parts of the Columbia River and evaluate human health and environmental risk.

Request for Information
Within the next 90 days, Washington Closure Hanford intends to issue a request for proposals to provide tour guide services of the U.S. Department of Energy's historic B Reactor. The subcontractor will provide tour guides for two types of tours. The first is for periodic public tours of the Hanford Site which include a stop at B Reactor. These tours generally involve one busload of people three times a day. In 2008, there are a total of 48 public tours planned. The second type of tour involves business visitors, including VIPs. The size of these groups can range from 1 to 50 people and can occur with less than 24 hours notice. Tour guides must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a Hanford Site badge.
Please provide answers to the following questions:
1. Has your organization led tours before? If yes, where and what was the tour format?
2. Have you been on a tour of Hanford or B Reactor? If yes, when did the tour occur and under what circumstances?
3. Can your organization recruit and train guides using a provided script/talking points?
4. Can your organization provide transportation for the guides to B Reactor which is located about 35 miles north of Richland?
5. What is your organization's background regarding previous work at Hanford?

In-Situ Petroleum Bioremediation Pilot |

Washington Closure Hanford intends to issue a Request for Proposal for a work scope that includes conducting a bioventing pilot test at a petroleum (diesel oil) contaminated soil site located in the 100-N Area of the U. S. Department of Energy Hanford Site, in Washington state. The source of the contamination is from an 80,000 gallon surface spill. The petroleum contamination is known to extend over a wide area and extends through the soil column to groundwater. Drilling of the seven wells (two injection and five monitoring) will be performed by others prior to start of the bioventing work scope. Specific bioventing activities include furnishing necessary facilities, equipment, labor, materials, supplies, and tools perform the work scope. The specific technical services include connecting bioventing equipment (e.g., blower pump, tubing, connectors) to the wells, collecting several phases of initial testing including baseline soil gas samples, respirometry testing, and air injection testing. This work scope also includes collecting periodic samples during the performance period, data reduction, submitting monthly reports, and operation & maintenance of the pilot system for up to six months. It is anticipated that the period of performance for this work will begin early in calendar year 2009.
